Douglas Todd Speaks with James Hoggan About Combating Pollution in the Public Square

Douglas Todd, a columnist for the Vancouver Sun interviewed James Hoggan earlier this week.

While reading I’m Right and You’re an Idiot, Todd was particularly struck by the chapter featuring American psychologist Jonathan Haidt.

Haidt asserts humans are programmed to be tribal, and that although this is a powerful drive, it can also be a dangerous one that binds and blinds us:

“Binding together can lead to unreasonable behaviour, disagreements and violent conflict because we are not driven by rationality, facts or compelling arguments, ” Hoggan writes in his chapter on Haidt.
