Have We Given Up Trying to Hear Each Other?
James Hoggan recently sat down with Kirk Lapointe and Roundhouse Radio to discuss I’m Right and You’re an Idiot and the deterioration of public discourse and debate.
Like many others, Kirk Lapointe sees the polarization of public conversation and wonders if we have given up trying to hear each other? Hoggan says we find ourselves in a strange place.
“It’s surprises me that we need to talk about this; that it’s something we need to work at–getting along better and listening to people. We seem to be much better at attacking people’s motives, intention, and character than we are at finding common ground.” This is odd, Hoggan says, because solutions to issues are usually found when we meet on common ground.
